In order to achieve both high quality of services and good frequency efficiency, this paper discusses point to multipoint (P-MP) communication systems whose base stations operate synchronously and transmit signals at the same frequency band. This paper proposes several beat interference suppression techniques by virtue of transmission diversity concept in the above mentioned P-MP communication systems, converting beat interference to intersymbol interference. The features of the proposed schemes are as follows : 1) transmission timing and transmitted signal wave-form are controlled intentionally ; 2) intersymbol interference due to 1) is compensated by adaptive equalizution. Finally, computer simulation confirms that the proposed schemes employing maximum-likelihood sequence estimation with per-survivor processing achieve good bit error performance in both beat and fast fading environment.
