In many visual applications, such as video games, physical simulation is one of the key technologies. Physical simulation generally consumes a lot of processing time on the CPU. On the other hand, effective interactive geometric deformation technique, which is applicable for physical simulation, is still a challenging issue in computer graphics. This paper describes a novel method for geometric deformation in real time by means of displacement mapping using vertex textures. This paper also gives a method for calculating collision handling on the GPU.
