Suspended solids at the mg/l levels in fresh and waste waters are coagulated by stirring with cetyldimethylbenzylammonium chloride and sodium chloride, and quantitatively floated to the solution surface within 30 s with numerous tiny bubbles. This technique is more rapid than filtration with 0.45-*m membrane filters.
