A spectrofluorometric method for determination of common epoxides based on a fluorescence reaction of the epoxy group with nicotinamide and acetophenone is described. By the method, as little as 10 ng order of five aliphatic epoxides could be determined with a coefficient of variation of ca. 3 to 5%. The analysis of the reaction product showed that the fluorophore had a 2,7-naphthyridine structure.
