概要

This paper reviews recent theoretical studies of magneto-optical Kerr spectra in ferromagnetic 3d transition metals, alloys, and multilayers. Progress in first-principles electronic structure calculations has made possible a more precise investigation of the Kerr spectra than before. The Kerr spectra calculated from first principles are in good agreement with the experimental results in various materials. Analysis of the calculated electronic structures allows a more microscopic understanding of the Kerr spectra. In this review, some examples are shown.
