A study of Magnetic Properties of SmFe_<12-x>Nb_x Compounds

A system of SmFe_<12-x>Nb_x compounds has been synthesised. Both x-ray diffraction patterns and thermomagnetic analyses show that the compounds investigated are almost of single phase and crystallise in the ThMn_<12>-type structure. X-ray diffraction patterns of magnetically-aligned powder samples indicate that the easy magnetization direction at room temperature of these compounds is along c-axis. The effects of Nb content on magnetic properties, such as magnetocrystalline anisotropy fields, the Curie temperatures and stauration magneitizations, have been investigated.
