A new mechanical resonator for time base has been developed. The resonator(50mm in length, 14mm in width and 0.6mm in thickness) is electrodynami cally drived at its resonant frequency(l00c.p.s). Obtai ned results are as follows:(1) The Q factor of the resonator changes with its amplitude, and depends whether in air or in vacuum. The highest value of the Q factor obtained experiment-ally is 6200. (2) initial aging is less than 3×10^-5 oer 24 days (3) The base fixing the resonator influences slightly on the resonant frequency. (4)Through the experimental reseaches, it is ascertained that this type of resomator is a highly efficient, paticularly, for the low frequency range.
