The β-glucosidase of a phytopathogenic fungus, B. cinerea, was purified and characterized. The optimum pH and temperature for activity of the enzyme were 3.0 and 60℃. The β-glucosidase was stable up to 50℃ and between pH 4.0-10.0. The M_r was 380,000. The affinity of the enzyme for oligosaccharides tended to increase in parallel with their chain length.
