The authors isolated six strains of yeast that are capable of producing fumaric acid(abbreviated as FuA hereafter)by assimilating n-paraffins(abbreviated as NP hereafter)from soil and malts. They were all identified as Candida balnkii.Of these starains, C. blankii MT 1025 exhibited high FuA productivity. Cultured for seven days at 28℃ on a medium containing 6(v/v)% NP, it gave FuA at a yield of 65%(29.79g/l).
