This report describes effects of the discharge current i_e and the pulse duration t_e on a TiC accretion process by electrical discharge machining. Ti powder directly mixed in working oil reacts with the cracked carbon from the working oil then a TiC layer is deposited on a workpiece surface. A thickness of the TiC layer becomes the maximum at certain i_e and t_e. Larger discharge energy does not promote only accretion but also removal by heat and pressure caused by the discharge.
