A211 TRANSITIONAL RESPONSE OF TRIPLE FLAMES CHANGING IN CONCENTRATION GRADIENTS(Laminar flame-3)

Transitional response of triple flame is studied using the instantaneous change of concentration gradient from steep to gentle or the opposite. Under the condition from steep to gentle, there is alag between the time of reaching the concentration gradient and the time of opening the premixed flame wing. This response depends on the direction about the instantaneous change of the concentration gradient and implies the presence of the flame interaction at the parallel flame part of the downstream. The flame interaction is understood through the thermal diffusive zone width at the leading edge of the steady flame obtained by laser tomographic visualization. In particular, the triple flame wing has a unique structure under the steep concentration gradient because the rich premixed flame interacts strongly with the non-premixed flame and consequently a thermal effect also exists strongly at the leading edge of the flame. This strong effect does not influence the propagating speed.
