REMPI (Resonantly Enhanced Multiphoton Ionization) method is very powerful for measurements of highly rarefied gas flows because of its high sensitivity and ability to measure nonequilibrium among internal (translational, vibrational, and rotational) energy. In this study, the experimental apparatus for REMPI are constructed and applied to measurement of free molecular flows, in which the number density is of the order of 10^<12>-10^<13>molecules/cm^3. Then a method of Boltzmann plot using the spectral lines of different branches are proposed, leading to accurate measurement by determining electronic transition dipole moments in Honl-London factors from the experimental REMPI spectra.
