From the viewpoints of neutronic performance, heat deposition and induced-activities Pb is best. However, taking into account the engineering feasibilities, we decided to use a Be-Fe composite reflector; a Be inner reflector of 30 cm in radius and 100 cm in height, with an outer reflector made of Fe up to 50 cm in radius.
