In the Arthus phenomenon of the guinea pig sensitized intravenously with a fixed amount of rabbit antiserum to egg-albumin the most remarkable reaction was observed when a certain concentration of antigen was injected intradermally. When the lower or higher concentration of antigen than the above mentioned level were given the reaction became weaker in the intensity. If antibody is made to remain as localized as possible, the concentration of antigen which exhibits the strongest reaction tends to became lower. When the concentration of antigen in blood serum was adequate, reactions were most remarkable in the intensity in reversed Arthus phenomenon and cutaneous reaction which was induced by an intravenous reinjection of antigen after a preliminary intradermal injection of antibody. The mode of inhibition by extremely excessive amount of antigen in such reactions as reversed Arthus phenomenon and above mentioned cutaneous reaction was similar to that seen in vitro. In the reversed Arthus phenomenon, it was found that the intensity of the reaction was greatly influenced with a quantitative relation of antigens in blood and in tissues at the time of reinjection. It was also observed that the antigen in tissues might inhibit the intensity of the reaction.
