The object of the present paper is to obtain the basic data on the tool wear in the intermittent cutting of the reinforced plastics. Therefore, the tool wear of the double-bladed carbide cutter was studied under various conditions, using the milling tests of the phenolic resin which had an abrasive reinforcement such as fibrous glass and aluminum oxide with no cutting fluid. Some results obtained are as follows : 1. The wear land is not parallel to the cutting direction but appears as a negative clearance. 2. K-class (marked ISO) carbide tool is suitable. 3. In cutting fibrous glass reinforced phenolic resin, the flexural rigidity of the fibrous glass and the cutting condition have great influence on the tool wear. 4. In cutting phenolic resin containing aluminum oxide, both cutting speed and feed rate scarcely affect the tool wear.
