Thermo-hybrodynamic characteristics of a stratified flow in a horizontal rectangular channel have been investigated experimentally and analytically, using liquid metal with a low melting point (Wood's metal ) and water as test fluids.In this report, the transition about macroscopic characteristics of fluid flow and heat transfer , that is the position of interface between both fluids, pressure drop and heat transmission coefficient through the interface etc., are studied experimentally in the entrance region.Both the mixing length model and the two-equation model considering a damped turbulent layer near the interface by surface tension, proposed in the previous report, are applied to analyse thermo-hydrodynamic behaviours in this system.The analytical results are compared with experimental ones and discussed to get better understandings of a liquid-liquid stratified flow in the entrance region.
