An Experimental Study on the Cooling Characteristics of Passive Containment Cooling Systems

The condensation heat transfer coefficients with noncondensable gases are measured to obtain the condensation heat transfer correlation to be applied to the design of passive containment cooling systems for light water nuclear power plants. The derived condensation heat transfer correlation is applicable in a wider range of subcooling than existing correlations. The dependence of the derived correlation on the length of condenser tubes is weak. The derived correlation based on experimental heat transfer results can be applied to the design of the passive containment cooling systems at actual nuclear power plants.
