• Recently, many diagnostic system are working at the various kind of plants in order to improve the reliability and availability of the plants. The development of these automatic diagnostic system was started in the early 1980's. The trigger was the appearance of the knowledge engineering introduced by Dr. Feigenbaum. This paper discuss that the history, the problems and the future of the automatic diagnostic system for the rotating machines.
