• In this paper a short historical review of the studies on the cicadas from the Bonin Islands and some accounts on the genera Diceropyga and Meimuna are presented, and the lectotype of Cosmopsaltria ogasawarensis MATSUMURA is designated with figures. Lectotype of Cosmopsaltria ogasawarensis MATSUMURA, 1906 : one male specimen set, attached two labels with Prof. S. MATSUMURA'S handwriting 'Hahajima, 9. 5.' And 'ogasawarensis Mats.', and a red label printed 'Type Matsumura'. The three cicadas described from the Bonins are as follows : Meimura boninensis (DISTANT, 1905) Ann. Mag. Nat. Hist.
