A spontaneous carotid-cavernous fistula in a 32-year-old female improved without treatment d few days after a normal pregnancy and delivery. The mechanism of spontaneous resolution of the fistula in the postpartum stage may have involved thrombosis of the cavernous sinus due to a change in blood coagulability or a direct effect of estrogen on the vascular wall. The relevant literature is reviewed.
