AC Magnetic Susceptibility of Bi_2Sr_2CaCu_2O_8 Single Crystals : Interpretation of the Loss Peaks and Anisotropy of the Pinning Force

AC susceptibility X :- X' - i)" has been measured in Bi3SrzCaCu3Og single crystals under theDC magnetic field applied at an angle with tl?e c-axis. Three kinds of loss peaks are observed atthe temperatures 'Z'l, V'2 and T3 (]) >T7 >T3 ) in the temperature dependence of .zz. The T? andV'2 peaks are mainly attributed to tlae eddy current loss, and further the skin effect can explainthe frequency dependetace as well as the sample-size dependence of these peak temperatures.The T3 peak is observed only when the DC field direction is close to the a/>-plane and only inthe heating process after zero field cooling of the sample. The T3 peak is associated with theanornalous decrease in ')(.' with increasing temperature. The weak screening for the AC fieldobserved below T3 is due to the existence of the flux lines for which the pinning force constantis very small.
