The ac linear (χ_0) and nonlinear (χ_2) susceptibilities of ferromagnetic fine cobalt particles, which were precipitated in a Cu_<97>Co_3 alloy, have been studied. The linear susceptibilityχ_0 has a spin-glass-like maximum at low temperature. The nonlinear susceptibilityχ_2 is negative and has a peak around the temperature whereχ_0 exhibits the maximum. However, the negative peak inχ_2 is very broad compared with that of spin glasses. Furthermore, χ_2 is proportional to T^<-3> at high temperatures. This behavior ofχ_2 in the Cu_<97>Co_3 alloy is essentially different from the divergent behavior ofχ_2 in spin glasses.
