The first measurement of the hyper-Raman signals from optic phonons for dyelaser excitation was successfully performed in SrTi0,. Thereby, the frequency disper-sion of the hyper-Raman efficiency was studied in such a range that the relevantphoton energies, i.e., twice the incident one, 2hco, and the scattered one, hco. wereacross the fundamental absorption edge. It was found that the efficiency for the TOphonon increases monotonously with an increase of 2hco?, aside from a small anomaly around 3.3 eV, whereas that for the LO phonon remains almost constant over thetransparent range, but increases rapidly as 2hco. exceeds 3.3 eV. A tentative interpreta-lion of the result is presented on the basis of the electronic band structure.[light scattering, band structure, perovskite crystal, resonant effect, nonlinear op- ll tics, Baser spectroscopyl
