Strong excess lines were observed across the 111 diffuse spots of Cuba andCuK/? radiations in the Bragg arrangement and across the 220 diffuse spot ofCuba radiation in the Laue arrangement on photographs of germanium crystalstaken by using unfiltered radiation from copper target operated at acceleratingvoltage 30 kV.Crystal orientation dependence of the excess line and intensity variation ofthe excess line similar to that of thermal diffuse scattering with change in specimentemperature strongly suggest that the excess line is caused by anomalous transmis-sion of the thermally scattered characteristic X-rays in the perfect crystal,
