The effect of impurities on the phase mode of CDW in a one-dimensionalsystem is studied by taking account of the non-linearity of the problem. Mostof the work is based on numerical simulations which are performed using aclassical mechanical equation of motion for the phase mode. The existence ofcritical field for the pinning and depinning is discussed for weak and strongpinning cases. The ohmic frequency-dependent conductivity is calculated by theKubo formula. The dc conduction in non-ohmic regime is found to be of activationtype, the activation energies decreasing with increase of the applied field.
