Electron spin resonance study shows that holes in Cl-rich AgBr. ,Cl, mixedcrystals are self-trapped as the Ag" complexes having Br ligand tons,(AgBrC].)'-, (AgBr.Cl.)' I, II and (AgBr.Cl.)' besides (AgCl,)' . Thecomplexes (AgBr.Cl.)' II and (AgBr.Cl.)' which have two and four Brligand tons in the same plane respectively have the tetragonal symmetry due tothe crystalline field created by Br ions and the Jahn-Teller effect. The anisotropyin o values for these comrlexes is, however, reduced somewhat compared with thatexpected by the static Jahn-Teller effect. The decay temperatures of the complexes(AgCl.)' and (AgBrCl,)' are decreased with the increase of the concentrationof Br ions. This fact is discussed with the theory of optical-phonon-assistedhopping.
