The state of self-sustainecl repetitive firing of action pot<cntials i?t squid giantaxons was experimentally determined to be both time-on"dered and spatiallyorganized. It was also observed that the self-sustained oscillation of actionpotentials was controlled by a spatially limited and determinc:d region on the axoncalled a source.
