The relation between Pauling's ionicity and Plaillips' ionicity is discussed bymeans of empirical LCAO band theory. Pauling's ionicity is well correlated to thetotal electron localizability including deep .s'-like valence state. Phillips' f iscorrelated to the band-gap electron localizability. The reason why we have to usePauling's ionicity to the calculation of '7,',j/ is also discussed.
