The axisyrnmetric steady flow of an infinite or cylindrically bounded, inviscid, compressible fluid is investigated assuming that the magnetic Reynolds numberarzd tone interaction parameter are small. For the unbounded flow the radialvelocity alone is evaluated with reference to the potccntial theory. For the channelflow, the solutions are obtained using the finite Hankel transform and they consistof two parts, namely, the convolution integral term ?tnd the magnetic field integraltern'x. In the subsonie case, the first term is negligible because of its exponentialdampiuag so that the flow field is explicitly determined by the magrnetic field applied. In the supersorvic case, the first term is rather dominant and periodic so that theflow field rentains oscillatory to infinity downstream. This oscillatory behaviorresults from the existence of discontinvtity (Mach cones or lines) continuing byreflection off the wall of the cylinder.
