The elasticity of an elastic body containing a large number of small rigid spheres has been calculated following Einstein's method for calculating the viscosity of a solution [Ann. Phys. 19 (1906) 289]. The effective elastic moduli have been expressed as a function of the elastic medium and the volume fraction of the inserted spheres.
