Optical conductivity of the trellis lattice t-J zaaodel at quarter filling is calculated by an exact-diagonalization technique on SlTL2Lll clusters, whereby the valence state of V Tons of N2LV205is considered. We show that the experirtaental f'eatures at 'vl eV, including peak positions,presence of shotrlders, and anisotropic spectral weight, can be reproduced in a reaxsonable rangeof parameter valtres, only by asstrnaing that the systenu is in the charge disproportionated groundstate. Possible reconciliation with experinaental data suggesting the presence of trniforrn laddersat T >Tc is discussed.
