We examine a narrow-band Holstein -Hubbard rnode[ where electrons are cotrpled to a local lat-tice distortion and forum stnatll polarons. When the on-site Cotrlomb interactions are overscreenedby strong electron -phonon covrpling, the polarons attract each other through the effective po-tential, bind into pairs, and forna stnall bipolarons. The optical conductivity of srnalJ bipolaronis calculated as a function of frequency, electron density, and temperature, within a limitedtemperature and paranaeter range.
