The generation and reversals of the tnagnetic field are investigated by the use of direct nurnerical siumtrlation of 2% therraaally driven iN4HD Botrssinesq flow in a rotating spherical shell.Ilvloderately strong naagnetic field, the energy of which is 30'l7 of' the kinetic, is generated in athermal convection field conaposed of five pairs of cyclonic and anti-cyclonic vortex colurnns. The dipole taaoment of' the tnagnetic field aligns with the rotation axis of the shell most of thetime, and changes the direction aluaaost periodically. The ttaagnetic field itself is also reversedsinauJtaneousJy. The intensity of the dipole monaent becormes xveak at the transition times.
