A Multiple Scattering Thenory for a Magnetic Impurity Coupled to Quantum Antiferromagnets in Quasi-Two Dimensions

We study a uaaagzaetic irnpurity cotrpled to qtr?tntutn atutiferrom?tgnets in quasi-two ditnensionson the basis of the psetrdof'erraaion representation f'or the itnptrrity spin. The dynamical itaapurityspin-correlation function and the impurity sttsceptibility are calctrlated. In the Neel phase, wetrse the self-consistent Born approximation in addition to the spin-wave expansion ['or the spinsin the plane. In the pararnagnetic phase, we consider the leading order in the INN expansion(the self-consistent ladder approxiraaation) in ttddition to the Schwinger-boson-rnean-field theoryfor the spins in the plane. It is shoxvn that the itmpurity sttsceptibility obeys the Curie law athigh temperattures and converges to a finite virtue as T -+ O. Relations to the exper'irnents onNdz .Ce.CuO.j are discttssed.
