The gate model is jvroposed such that a mobile iomt happens to hop between adjacent sites only when immobile (gate) ions probabili.';tically move away to keep anenough space: By taking account of hard-sphere ions vibrating around their stablesites, the transition probability rate F is statistical-mechanically evaluated accordingto the Vineyard method. The obtained F is of activtttion-type where the activationenergy increases with the overlap length defined witlt radii of mobile and immobileions, and also increases with the gate frequency.
