A new method to evaluate distribution functions of electric field gradients in solidsfrom M6ssbauer absorption spectra is proposed. The spectrum is expressed by a for-mula whose denominator and numerator are polynomials of Doppler velocity v. Theapplication to an amorphous substance shows that very few terms of the polynomialsare required to reproduce the observed spectrum.
