Electrostatic potenT.irtI formed in a collisionless jclasma flow near the magztetjcthroat is investigated by kinetic analysis under the condition that a particle source in aplasma Clll be neglec1.ed. It is found tlaat the plasma flow is required to satisfy thegeneralized Bohm criterion at t1?e throat for the formation of a statiou?ary continuouspotential, and tlten th<: speed of plasma flow must exceed t1?e acoustic speed.
