Emaergy gap dependences of solvent dynarnics effects on the electron transfer rate inpolar solutions are investigated by solvirxg the diffusion-reaction equation. Newpoiuats in this study are that (1) we treat noua-?linear response systems where tlve transla-tional motion couples noxa-linearly with the rotational motion auad (2) we inxvestigatesystexnatically the exaergy gap dependence of the solvent dynamics effect for tltecltarge separation (CS) and charge recombixtation (CR) reactions. Tlve non-linear freeeuaergy functions are cltaracterized, based 011 tl?e Monte Carlo simulation data formodel systems where solveuat translational positions are either allowed to move orfixed. The calculated results are that so far as tlae non-linear cotupling is substantial, tlae energy gap law of the CS reaction is little affected by the solvent dynantics, whiletlaat of the CR reaction is greatly modified.
