An experimental study has been conducted on the lateral velocity of a sphericalrigid particle sedimenting inside of a vertical cylinder, The lateral velocity was ob-tained by measuring the trajectories of the particles. In this investigation, the ratio ofthe cylinder diameter tc>the particle diameter is in the range 0.01-0.04 and the particleReynolds number is in the range 0.03-0.30.
