The local electrostatic persistence length of wormlike polyelectrolyte chains in salt-free solutions is calculated, considering the strong electrostatic repulsion of chainsegments. The chain conformation is assumed to be wormlike only locally, and theassumption on the radial distribution function g.(R) of monomers in differentpolymers(o/V).!(v.(7?) l)d7?identical to that in the previous papers is also used, where n and N are the number con-centration of the monomers and their total number in one polymer, respectively. Thesame results as the previous ones, that the persistence length is proportional to n "'in very large n and to (n/N) "' in very small n, arc obtained. By adding to this resulta term on the intrinsic chain stiffness, another equation of this length is obtained. These calculated results agree with experimental ones.[polyelectrolyte, polymer solution, wormlike chain, persistence length, excluded lI volume effectl%
