Electrical Resistivity of Quenched β-Brass.II.An Intertwinement of Vacancies with Ordering

Changes in concentration of wrong atom of Cu or Zn on its sublattice, single va-cancy and divacancy associated with ordering in /7-brass during quenching have beenstudied by means of a computer simulation taking account of the cooling rate. Theconcentration of wrong atoms just after quenching increases with increasingtemperatures up to 275'C and then decreases gradually while that of single vacancyor divacancy increases exponentially with the increase of temperatures. By using theresult, the o bserved change in resistivity depending on the quenching temperature canbe well interpreted quantitatively.
