Wigner Crystallization of Two Dimensional Electrons Formed on the Surface of Solid Neon

C onductivity of two dimensional electrons trapped on the surface of solid neon hasbeen measured with the electron density up to 3 X 10"/ cm'. From the anomaly in thetemperature dependence of the conductivity we have determined the criticaltemperature where electrons undergo a transition to a Wigner crystal, and extendedthe phase diagram of the crystal to a density one order of magnitude higher than thatobtained for electrons on liquid helium surface. The transition was found to becharacterized by a relation T= 138 -l- 25. No quantum effect was observed in this den-sity region.
