X-ray emission rates for vacancies in various M subshells have been calculatedfor rare earth elements between Z=6O and 72. The relativistic Hartree-Fock-Slater atorr)ic model with finite-size nucleus was used and all the calculationshave been made relativistically. Contributions from all multipoles were includedand the retardation effect was taken into account.
