We obtained a neneralized Gel'fand-Levitan ecuuation to analvse th<: structureof nonlinear ectuations derived from the Kaur-Newell eisenvalue r>ro}>lem. ThisG-L equation is used to get a functional which maps a variation of scattering datato the one of potentials. From the comparison of tlais functional and the inverseone, the completeness of squared eigenfunctions is naturally derived. A Greenfunction is defined for a linear partial-differential equation corresponc[ing to thefirst variational s>'stem of the derivative nonlinear Schr5din:or (DNLS) ectuationand we get the solution of a nonhomogeneous linear equation whicla arises inperturbations around the DNLS eqx?ation.
