On the Commensurate-Incommensurate Transition in a 2D Classical Sine-Gordon System

The comrr)ensurate(C)-incomrnensurate(IC) transitio'n in a 2D classicalsine-Gordon (SG) system is examined by analyzing the soliton creation energyE5 of the 10 quantum SG system which is derived from the original 2D problem.The C-IC transition point, specified by'the condition E5=0, depexvds explicitlyon the cutoff parameter appearing in the 10 quantum problem.
