The fast magnetosonic waves in cylindrical and inhomogeneous plasmas propagatingtowards the axis are studied by a computer simulation and a theoretical analysis. Thevelocity and amplitude of the wave excited by a magnetic field perturbation increasedue to the cylindrical and nonlinear effects. The propagation characteristics of the fast magnetosonic waves depend on (II'72, theratio of amplitude to the square of frequency. The large amplitude soliton-like pulsesare efficiently excited for 1 $ o' $100 by a positive half cycle of a sinusoidal wave. Thewave packets are produced for o' >1 by a sinusoidal perturba1.ion.
