Resonant Raman Scattering in CuGaS_2

Resonant enhancement of Raman scattering by extraordinary phonons with macro-scopic electric field is observed in CuGaS. at 85 K and at room temperature. Theincident photon which induces resonance has an energy near that of fl-exciton, whenboth incident and scattered lights are polarized parallel to the optic axis, and near B- orC-exciton, when both lights are polarized parallel to each other but perpendicular to theoptic axis. This dependence on the incident photon energy and polarization dem-onstrates the importance of the intraband Fr5h1ich electron-phonon interaction. Theresonance behavior by ,{.-phonon is also observed. This is explained by the defor-mation potential interaction.
