Phonon Raman Spectroscopy in Bi_2Sr_2Ca_<1-x>Y_xCu_2O_<8+y>

The hole concentration dependence of the lattice vibrations in Bi_2Sr_2Ca_<1-x>Y_xCu_2O_<8+y> was investigated by Raman spectroscopy. A full assignment of the vibrational modes in CuO_5 pyramidal layers was made. The anisotropy between x and y is large for the phonon energies. On decreasing the hole concentration, the energy shifts of the vibrational modes of layered O atoms are larger than those of apical O atoms, which indicates that doped holes enter the layered O sites. The resonant enhancement of the A_g modes at 141 and 187 cm^<-1> and the B_<1g> mode at 326 cm^<-1> indicates strong electronphonon interactions.
