A model for the vibrational excitation of the 014(A"J") radical is developedwith the aid of the Franck-Condon model and the half-collision ncodel. Thecalculated vibrational distribution over levels 0, I, 2, which is based on theFrancl<-Condon model, is l, 0.27, 0.03; tlais is qualitatively in good agreementwith the experiment by T. Carrington, I, 0.3,<0.01. On the other hand, the forcebetween the recoiling fragments negligibly alters the vibrational distribution. The vibrational motion of the OH radical, therefore, is excited simultaneouslywith an electronic excitation.
