The "Si(p, d) ztnd "0(p, d) reactiorns have been sttudied at f.=5[.9 MeV witha ntagnetic spectrometer. Experimental angtzlar distributions are compared withthe distorted-wave Born approxirnation theory and the adiabatic theory for deu-teron breakup. Results of the analysis corroborate the conclusions obtained in aprevious study of the "Ni(p, d) reaction, indicating the deficiency of the conven-tional DWBA th<cory in describirtg (p, d) angular distribtmtions at reIa.tively highincident energies. NUCLEAR REACTIONS "Si, "0(p,d), E =51.9MeN/; measured o(0). "Si, "0 levels deduced/,spectroscc>pic factors. "0 enriched target.
